Thoughts on Being a Part-Time Working Mom

It's not as bad as I thought it would be.  Sure, it was difficult at first and I went pretty much kicking and screaming, but now that I have a couple months under my belt I've realized I can handle it.  I think I even like my job a little bit more now.

Would I rather stay at home and not work at all?  I don't quite know the answer to that.  I do know that I'm very satisfied with working part time.  I get days to stay home and be with Kinsey all day.  Those days really are such a treasure.  I'm pretty sure I appreciate my time with her more than I did before I started working.  Then other days I get to go and be out in the working world.  I get to pursue the calling God gave me to become a nurse.  Our babysitter is so loving and I am so thankful for her.  The whole situation feels very God-designed specially for us!

I'm with you - I'm (mostly) really enjoying working part time. I've loved these last several weeks of being at home, and also looking forward to my week on coming up. I think it's going to be a good thing.

I think it is AWESOME that you get to work part time - I WISH so many times I had that option not because I don't love Joshua to bits and pieces and not because I don't feel so fourtunate to stay home with him but because I am a women who LOVES to work and it is hard to stay at home all the time. Joel is doing his MBA so there are days I am literally with Joshua all day by myself and it gets so wearing on me! I wish I had something of MINE - my own! If you have a wonderful babysitter that you can trust and that loves your child - more power to you! Its the best of both worlds! I will get my chance to work someday, I have had this struggle over the last year and a half that THIS is where God wants me, THIS is my calling and ministry for now, but I will get to have the working world back someday. I think it is so awesome and such a blessing that you can do part time! Good for you!
